Manual info:
1. Tension belt with 45N (10lbs) force.
2. Belt deflection should be 38-42mm (1.5 - 1.75 in.)
Mine is a bit too tight, makes squeeking sound when idling, works still OK.
Sweet :lol: rope winch and all. Tailgate is nice heavy duty style, I think I'll do the same..
As I just had the trans open, it is hard to imagine any internal failure that would lead to jumping out of gear, especially if/when it does not do so with reverse. It is hard to believe that shift...
Just opened up my AMT 600 transaxle to check its condition, as it made a silent snapping sound when idling, suspected the bearings of the input shaft to be finished, but ended up replacing them all....
Mine is 1989 AMT600

no power tilt

I did the same just now..with original belt - was left with luxorious 5mm gap between transaxle housing and motor :BG:
update Oct 2012: replaced the worn belt (at 28mm width), now the new belt makes...
