    V belt squeak

Thought I would share some information because everyone on this forum has been so helpful. After about 5 hours on my 2012 825i, I started getting an annoying belt chirp. It would squeak at startup, then start to chirp after the engine got warm. I tried some belt dressing after verifying the cover was not touching the belt anywhere, and it worked for about 10 minutes. The chirp returned. I was reading today on Gates ( brand belt) website that they suggested to remove and change direction of belt. I removed the belt, removed all dressing, and decreased and cleaned the pulleys. Then installed belt in opposite rotation. The squeak and chirp are now gone. I was at the point to take to dealer, but now am very happy. Hope this may help someone in the future. I now have about 13 hrs. on machine.

I am talking about the alternator belt on the engine. The sound was easily identified after I took the 2- 10 mm bolts off and removed the safety cover. I hope this helps.
