    Warn winches

Can anyone tell me what are the differences between the Warn Vantage 3000(s) winches and the XT30?

I believe one significant difference is the XT30 has a metal gear housing vs the plastic one on the Vantage...to be comparable you want the provantage winch...it's the replacement for the XT/RT winches. The Vantage is an economy version so some areas were skimped on. The warranty on the provantage is also 3 yrs instead of 1.

I really like the Warn XT 30 and the XT 40.

Maybe the ProVantage 3500-S would be a cheaper (but not junk) alternative???

I really like the synthetic style cable. It might save on the hands.

Provantage is the old XT/RT winch.....Vantage is a new economy line. If you can swing it the Provantage is the way to go.

Has anyone actually purchased the winch assembly from John Deere??? For about $700. I beleive it includes the XT30.

I wondered what all you got for the $700. Is in a nicer install? Better mounting? Matching switches? Hooks into existiing wire harness?

If you purchase a regular Warn winch and the JD mounting plates it's a very clean install....no wire splicing...the contactor mounts up on the frame so the holes are already there for you. Give the install instructions a look and you'll see what I mean...here's a link

The manuals are a great resource for you to know exactly what you'll be looking at for a job. I already had a Warn RT left over that I pulled off the Kubota RTV 500 I traded in so I reused that on the Gator 825i and the install was very smooth and there was no cutting of wires or drilling involved. I only needed to purchase the JD mount plates and bolts/spacers.

Thanks DIXIEDOG. I have been on the fence about getting a winch for awhile now.

I like the idea of a Warn, and a nice clean install from the John Deere parts. But, the price
    makes me run for cover.

Understandably so, that's a pricey little add on.
