    Hydraulic Bed lift?

Has anyone attempted to make their own hydraulic bed lift? Over 700bones for the JD system seems a bit steep and I was wondering if anyone had thought of making their own. I'm only a 'farm engineer' but it doesn't seem like it should be all that difficult.

If you try it, let us know how you do. I am not an engineer of any sorts and agree the $700 is a bit much.

That looks like a great place to start. I have seen others on different threads talk of actual part manufacturers part numbers. Does anyone have the part manufacturer and number for the bed lift cylinder/motor assembly?

When I had my 6x4 I converted the manual dump to automatic with a Lenco drive arm. These are usually used for engine compartment lifts on boats (Actually what I had intended to use it for). Had a great weight capacity and installed by putting a brace between the two bed rail frames up top and screwing to the frame on the bottom. All I had to do after that was purchase the three way toggle switch and the wiring was simple. Worked great. I will see if I can round up some old pics.
