    Calling John Deere Customer Service

Has anyone had to call JD Customer Service about a complaint on their Gator? If so, how is it handled and what can I expect from JD, I have a service problem with one of their dealers (my selling dealer), they have had it four weeks and can't fix the problem. Don't just tell me to take it to another dealer, seems they don't want to work on what they didn't sell, everyone I called gives my some story why they can't do it. Wouldn't it just be nice if a local dealer said, yes bring it over and we will help you.

I have not called about a complaint, but their finance dept. are excellent and are very friendly. I would give it a shot.

That sounds like a great idea if the unit is financed especially. I'm thinking they want to get paid and the quickest way to not have that happen is to have the customer get shafted. Even if they can't help they should be able to connect you with someone that can.

I've been there on poor service if you didn't buy it there myself...it sucks...places claim they don't do it but a customer that bought something there gets their unit fixed in a couple days and yours still hasn't been diagnosed several weeks later. It makes no sense because if you go there for service and they treat you right then chances are when you buy your next Gator you'll at least check there first. People move, people have issues with their original dealer, sometimes people just didn't realize you were the closest dealer until after they bought their unit....that shouldn't be held against them.

I have to be honest, so far my experience has been that I get much better service from the non selling dealer I deal with in the winter, rather than the dealer out in Pennsylvania that I bought the Gator from. The dealer I purchased the Gator from is a small family owned business for about 50 years. The dealer near my winter residence in New Jersey ( Central Jersey Equipment ) is a large dealership with multiple sites and they treat me like I am their most valuable customer. Go figure ...... just wanted to put that out there, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Well I guess I won't have to call JD Customer Service after all, they called me yesterday and said the Gator was ready. I went and checked it out today and all seems to be correctly done, if you remember I had a shifting problem. They replaced the clutch, belt, plus some other things that JD said to do and they did all the work in ONE day, but sat there for 3 1/2 weeks before work was done and they aren't even busy or backup with work, what gives.
