    Oil and Filter question???

Anyone use a synthetic oil in their 825i? If so what filter do you use?

I'm sure there has to be something better out there than the OEM filter and JD oil.

I have a 550 and use synthetic oil with the standard JD filter. Surprisingly the JD filter is cheaper than the Briggs & Stratton and store brand filters.

I was thinking of going with the Royal Purple oil and filter or maybe the Royal Purple oil and WIX filter... anyone using synthetic i'd love to hear of your experiences.

I switched all my equipment to full synthetic Schaeffers 5 w 40. So far so good. For one I can run out longer between oil changes which saves time and money. And I think todays oil is brand name quality real world crap! And the cost of todays oil makes going synthetic more practicle. Up here in Wisconsin this oil is supposed to help spin engines faster in the cold which means oil is flowing on cold starts faster which I like. Time will tell. I used the standard wix filter.

I run full synthetic 0-30W Amsoil Signature series in my 825i with a standard JD filter, no complaints so far.

If the filter number is AM107423 then its a common JD filter number that even fits my 2010 X728SE Kawasaki engine. The Wix number is 51394 and the AMSOIL filter is EA15K09.

Air and oil filters on these off-road engines are critical.

Operator manuals (.pdf versions) are available through the JD website. You should be able to find your oil filter number there.

They do not give any part numbers that I can find.......................

But I did discover the PLUS-4 10W-30 oil is supplied by Imperial Oil Div of Esso (Canada)
    I have the MSDS
I am going to use AMSOIL ATM Signature Series 10W-30 and an EA15K09 Oill Filter.

The ATM has NO viscosity improvers like other multi-viscosity oils.

    John Deere TURF-GARD™

Grease John Deere Multi-Purpose SD Polyurea Grease
John Deere Multi-Purpose HD Lithium Complex Grease
Transmission Oil (Transaxle) John Deere HY-GARD™ (JDM J20C)
Transmission Oil (4WD Front Differential) John Deere HY-GARD™ (JDM J20C)
Park Brake John Deere HY-GARD™ (JDM J20C)
(Specifications and design subject to change without notice.)

For the JD20C I am going to use the same as in my X728SE, Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil SAE 5W-30
