xuv 850d high low range lever will not move to low

gator drives fine in high range - 4 wheel drive works fine but lever will not move to low even when using a wrench. the cable connection is free and not bound up. anyone have a solution or place to start aside form opening the transmission? thanks

I sometimes have that when there is tension on the wheels....like backing up on to a hill and it then low or high it and it's hard to shift or a little bit of gear mash happens.

there is no tension, on level ground. hoping for more info. thanks

as suspected the transmission had to be opened up and the high low shaft was broken. parts on the way.
