Mikuni carb adjustment 2006 HPX 4x4

My new to me HPX was flooding, due to an old needle. I removed the carb, cleaned it and replaced all the gaskets, jets, etc.

It now idles perfectly, when I start to go, I need to pull the choke lever to keep it running. Once it starts going faster, I need to push the choke in to keep it running.
This is repeatable every time I try to take off.

    Thoughts?

After deciding that the carb was just running too lean on low speed, I decided to pull the carb and compare the original jets with the ones from the rebuild kit.

I didn't have anything handy to measure the size, but as I expected I might find by the way it was running the old jets looked slightly larger ....so I swapped them.

After installing, the gator runs perfectly without the choke, idle, low speed and high speed....
