I SWEAR, ON THIS PAGE, AT THE TOP, WHERE IT IS WHITE BACKGROUND AND BLUE LETTERS, I SAW AN AD FOR GATOR POWER STEERING. I MISSED CLICKING ON THE AD. I CALLED MY J.D. DEALER. HE SAID HE HEARD THERE IS AN AFTERMARKET, KNOCK OFF, THAT PROVIDES POWER STEERING FOR GATOR 825 i. Anyone have more info or a link that I can inquire?

Thanks,

Rich

http://www.wickedbilt.com/electra-steer_all_brands.html

Here's one...I know there are a couple others...I read that someone just recently saw them for $795.00 at one of the UTV retailers online...can't remember which one....they are all "Electro-Steer" units I believe...

Hope that helps...that's on my wish list for a later day...

I checked the rubicon site above, and they want $990., probably plus freight. I wish JD would come out with one. I would be a buyer, immediately...

Rich, We have installed 2 of the wickedbilt power steering units on 825i and they work great. One of them has over 250 hrs with no problems.

Can I inquire as to what the parts cost and how much to install to give me some idea?

thanks,

Rich

The cost at that time was $989.00 plus freight, Someone on this forum mentioned $799.00 from a atv dealer. The first one took about 5hrs to install (directions sucked) second one 3.5 hrs.

Workin in the woods for the past two weeks I sure could have used power steering on the 825i. I have been dropping anywhere from 3 to 6 large maples each morning, cutting them to 16" length then hauling them out to the farm for splitting & stacking. That machine can handle one hell of a load. But, getting turned around in tight positions expecially towards the end of the day when your arms are like rubber is a booger. Between the 825i and the 4010 removing the falling and removing the trees has been much easier. Besides the splitter makes the old axe hang on the barn wall for display only!

Installed the power sterring unit on my 855D - took about 4 hrs.
Great for turning at slow speeds and tight conditions. Should have
been standard feature on the machine Paid $890. freight included.

A TOTALLY DIFFERENT MACHINE!

Deputy & J Grace:
I think I split too many over the years. I too have a 22 ton splitter that goes vertical and horizontal with one pull BS start. Works great. After the GATOR. After my low boy which I now have installed GORILLA SPRING assists on the heavy ramps. I now have two screwed up arms. MRI and X ray says cut/operate. I say, to the grave my hurtin arms will go. I had a rotator cuff surgery 20 years ago. Never again.

Long story short, I agree completely with both you guys, and PS will be installed in the next six weeks. THX,

So u can buy a new 2012 with factory power steering. I called my local dealer and he said there's no Retrofit kit available yet for factory power steering (mine is a 2021). Does anyone know about the new factory system? Is it any different than the aftermarket system?
