Plow packages?

Anyone out there looked into any aftermarket plows from eagle or motoalliance? I could not see paying the dealer 3000 for the factory plow when others are so much more afforodable.

I have a xuv 550 and was thinking of the eagle 66" or 72" with the ETS unit to move it from the cab and a viper elite winch...probably either the 3500 or 4000 pounder for raising and lower the unit.

Would be great to hear what some others out here with similar models are pushing snow with.

Where are you located? I love mine but I'm not sure the 550 is heavy or powerful enough for a 6ft plow if you get a lot of snow.

Search the forum but many have replaced the cable on their winch with nylon strap webbing to better handle the repeated flexing as you raise and lower the blade.

Whatever setup you go with make sure you post back with pictures.

Thanks for the reply. I am in upstate NY so once I get the plow on it won't snow for the next year! :lol:

I was thinking the 6 footer may be too big as well, I do not want to break the machine trying to push too much.

Any thoughts on winch? I see you have the super 4500.

If you go with the Eagle go for the 66" V plow....it's much heavier duty than their straight plow and with the V you won't need as much power to push the snow in deep heater banks.


Don't believe them when they say it won't scoop either....one time of aggressive positioning and it will scoop fine :cool:

Here's a pic of it mounted up on the Kubota RTV 500 I traded off to get my Gator 825i.....it's a very similar sized machine to the 550 and with the Eagle V plow it was quite a snow mover.....I moved that same plow to my Gator 825i and it works well on that also

BTW how do you like your winch?

I am currently debating that same model against the viper wide spool 4500. Price is about a 100 more but I cannot find a bad review on either other than some small things like a poorly drilled mount bracket for the superwinch and a solenoid complaint from 2010 on the viper. I like that the viper comes with a dash switch as well as a wireless remote.

With my plow package I am also thinking of going with the ETS from eagle, which will allow me to pivot the plow from the cab via a dash switch.

Kinda wishing I had purchased the heavy-duty alternator now...could always add a second battery though I guess.

Mine came with a dash switch and remote too. See the first 2 pics to see where I mounted them. Cock your head to the side and look at the last 2 pics to see what that winch drug me out of.
