Has anyone replaced their standard 12v power socket with a USB power port yet?

Just wondering if anyone has replaced either of the 12 volt power sockets w/ a USB power socket.
I just found this at Amazon.com & wondered if anyone has experience with this or another brand? I might replace the 1 in my center console, just have to figure out power requirements for my electronics....

Would it not be cheaper to pick up a 12v to usb charger for your device rather than alter the 12V? You may find one at a yard sale, ebay, etc.

    Hi,

Maybe this would be an easier fix:

I've altered my 12v cigarette socket. I gave it heavier wiring and fuse to make it a proper 15amp source for my heated window defogger. I just use a USB adapter plugged into the cigarette port whenever it's needed but in general I bought a phone with enough battery to survive my time off grid and only very rarely need to give my FLIR a feeding. Most times though when the battery on my FLIR dies it's time to go home and get some sleep.

Yeah, thought about an adapter as you say folks, but I prefer to have a USB charger & not another piece of equipment to store in the machine, just my opinion.
